Tracking Automation Program
Reports to: CAII Program Director & Solution Architect
Engagement Type: Contract / Consulting (6–8 weeks Discovery Phase)
Location: Hybrid (Remote with on-site sessions in Corpus Christi as needed)
Purpose of the Role: The Business Analyst will support the CAII Discovery Phase for a Vessel Tracking Automation Program, working directly with the CAII Program Director and Solution Architect.
This role will bridge operational knowledge, data understanding, and business insight to document current processes, assess automation opportunities, and support the development of a validated technical and business case.

Key Responsibilities
1. Discovery & Analysis
- Conduct structured interviews and workshops with operations, IT, and management teams.
- Document current-state processes, workflows, and decision points related to vessel tracking, data capture, and reporting.
- Identify inefficiencies, pain points, and potential automation or data-integration opportunities.
- Support development of the “As-Is” and “To-Be” process documentation.
- Collaborate with technical teams to inventory existing systems (AIS, ERP, GIS, MIS, etc.).
- Capture data sources, flows, formats, and integration readiness.
- Assist in evaluating system interdependencies and automation feasibility.
- Quantify current performance metrics (time, cost, accuracy).
- Support the identification of measurable KPIs and expected ROI metrics for automation.
- Contribute to risk and opportunity logs during the Discovery process.
- Populate structured templates (Assessment Workbook, Stakeholder Matrix, etc.).
- Maintain concise and executive-level clarity in written outputs aligned with CAII standards.
- Assist in preparing the Discovery Week summaries and the final Discovery Report.
Required
- 5–10 years of experience in business analysis, process improvement, or digital transformation roles.
- Demonstrated ability to map and document business processes using tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, or Miro.
- Strong command of Microsoft Word and Excel for structured documentation (PPT not required).
- Experience gathering and synthesizing operational, technical, and data inputs.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Exposure to ports, logistics, transportation, or supply chain operations.
- Familiarity with AI, automation, or data-driven transformation initiatives.
- Background in working with frameworks or methodologies like CAII DRIVE, Six Sigma, or Design Thinking.
- Curious, structured, and detail-oriented with a systems-thinking mindset.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and structuring information from evolving discussions.
- Strong interpersonal presence; capable of facilitating discovery sessions with diverse stakeholders.
- Delivers outputs that are executive-ready, data-backed, and visually structured.
- Completed Assessment Workbook (process, systems, data, and pain points).
- Stakeholder interview notes and summaries.
- Current-state process maps and KPI baselines.
- Risk & opportunity log.
- Contribution to the Discovery Summary Report and validation session materials.
